Summary/objective

Students 2 Science, Inc. (S2S) is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to inspiring, motivating, and empowering students to pursue careers in STEM. We achieve this through two signature programs:

🔹 The ISAAC Program – In-person, hands-on STEM experiences in a state-of-the-art commercial laboratory.

🔹 The V-Lab Program – Virtual STEM instruction, bringing laboratory experiences directly into classrooms via interactive kits and remote guidance.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and engaging Laboratory Instructor to join our team and ignite a passion for STEM in young minds at our new location in Whippany, NJ!

Essential Functions (Part-Time Position, 24 Hours/Week, 3 days a week)

As a Part-time Laboratory Instructor, you will be required to work 3 days, ~24 hours, per week. The part-time Instructor’s role is to cover instruction on days any of the full-time instructors are absent. Some of the responsibilities of the part-time instructor are below:

✔ Leading hands-on STEM experiences in the ISAAC In-Person Laboratory Program for Middle and High School students.

✔ Preparing, organizing, and maintaining STEM activities and laboratory equipment for ISAAC Programs to ensure seamless operation.

✔ Training and mentoring volunteers, interns, and assistant instructors, ensuring a high-quality and engaging learning experience.

✔ Fostering an inclusive, engaging, and inspiring STEM learning environment that encourages curiosity and discovery among students.

✔ Strictly enforcing lab safety by adhering to all established safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a secure learning environment for all participants.

This role requires a strong commitment to maintaining an organized, innovative, and safe STEM laboratory experience.

Competencies

🎓 Education:

✔ Minimum – Master’s Degree or equivalent in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

✔ Preferred – PhD in STEM field

🔬 Experience:

✔ Prior analytical chemistry, molecular biology, or laboratory experience (academic, industrial, or educational setting)

✔ Experience in teaching, mentoring, or training middle or high school students is a plus

💻 Skills & Tools:

✔ Demonstrated analytical, biological, or biochemical laboratory skills.

✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

✔ Strong auditory and visual skills for effective instruction

✔ Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. (lab equipment, supplies, etc.)
