Summary, Job Description, and Qualifications
Job Title: Behavioral Management Specialist – Foster Care II
Reports To: Network Coordinator or Clinical Director
Summary:
As a partner in building brighter futures for youth and their families, your role will be to provide direct care and other related technical and clinical support activities that align with The Village Network’s Mission, Vision & Values.
Essential Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Provides behavior management in the following ways:
- Supporting client’s efforts toward treatment goals
- Role model and teaching appropriate skills and behaviors
- Implement the 6 R’s strategies when working with clients
- Utilize Collaborative Problem Solving
- Provides individual and/or group mental health services as appropriate to the child service plan.
- Attends and participates in staff and treatment team meetings in order to better collaborate with the treatment team.
- Responsible for assisting with crisis de-escalation as needed.
- Engages with client family members in accordance with service plan.
- Presents in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions.
- Interacts with clients within TVN’s trauma informed models.
- Supports the youth’s education through tutoring and emotional support as part of daily operations.
- Temporarily assists in the transportation needs when not assigned to other program needs.
- Completes foster care home visits to ensure safety and compliance in TVN treatment foster homes
- Provides support to foster homes and assists with transportation to therapy and visitation
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field or 3+ years of experience working in a related role.
- Ability to work with a diverse population
- Ability to use a computer, proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License and maintains a driving record that allows that individual to be insurable with the insurance company providing The Village Network with vehicle insurance. In addition, travel to homes of clients/students is necessary.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to comply with The Village Network requirements for using restraints including sufficient strength and completion of extensive training.
- Ability to handle bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds independently.
- Must be able to remain alert to problems, needs or emergencies that might arise on any shift, maintaining a safe environment for the clients.
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with all levels or personnel, internal and external to the company.
