Position Summary:

The Fuel Truck Driver is responsible for operating a service truck to refuel and perform daily lubrication (greasing) on a wide range of heavy construction or industrial equipment, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other machinery across project sites. This role ensures equipment remains operational by performing routine fueling and preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with safety, environmental, and company guidelines.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate and drive a fuel/lube truck to work sites in a safe and responsible manner.

• Dispense fuel and lubricants to heavy equipment and company vehicles on job locations.

• Perform basic maintenance inspections, including checking fluid levels, greasing moving parts, and inspecting hoses and fittings for wear or leaks.

• Maintain fueling and greasing logs, equipment checklists, and service records.

• Adhere to proper fueling techniques to prevent spills and environmental hazards.

• Communicate with maintenance staff or supervisors when equipment requires further mechanical attention.

• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, including the use of PPE, safe fueling/handling practices, and fire prevention.

• May assist with minor cleaning or maintenance of equipment as needed.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  

Working Conditions:

• Outdoor job sites in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).

• Physically demanding: requires lifting hoses, climbing onto equipment, bending, kneeling, and standing for prolonged periods.

• Exposure to fuel vapors, lubricants, noise, heavy equipment activity, and uneven terrain.

• Qualifications:

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B or higher (may vary by company requirements).

• Hazmat and Tanker endorsements (preferred or required depending on location).

• Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy equipment.

• Experience working on construction or industrial job sites (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

• Comfortable climbing onto, around, and under heavy equipment.

• Capable of working in outdoor conditions year-round.

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor Work: The position requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions (hot, humid, rainy, etc.).
  • Noise & Dust Exposure: The work environment involves exposure to high noise levels, grease, dust, and other substances commonly found on construction sites.
  • Heavy Equipment: Regular exposure to heavy machinery and moving equipment on-site.
  • Hazardous Conditions: Occasional exposure to common construction substances such as gasoline, diesel fuel, and form oil.
