Stamford Health has an opportunity for a full-time GI Tech in Stamford, CT. The GI Technician assists the physician by providing and setting up the room, instrumentation, supplies and equipment required during endoscopic procedure.
Schedule: Monday -Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Responsibilities:
1. Respects and protects the patient’s rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes which are in the patient’s best interests with full consideration of their legal rights.
2. Provides safe patient care by verifying patient identification and assuring the presence of the operative consent, facility consent, anesthesia consent, history & physical, and all laboratory reports needed for that particular patient.
3. Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants and other hazardous substances.
4. Has knowledge of endoscopic techniques, instrumentation, equipment and supplies necessary and conscientiously prepares for each procedure and assists as needed under the direction of the physician.
5. Promote efficiency and safety during endoscopic procedures by maintaining control of all instrumentation, and equipment.
6. Accurately handle and identify specimens according to established guidelines.
7. Attends scheduled staff meetings, inservice education opportunities and participates in continuing education programs. Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peer, managers and other managers of the health care team.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• One year of Endoscopic experience required
• Graduate of Surgical Technology or GI program preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Certified Reprocessing Technician or Sterile Processing preferred or must be obtained within 2 years of hire date
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their family members, surgical center staff, physicians, and other health care workers.
