POSITION SUMMARY:
The Youth & Family Coordinator supports the YMCA's mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing high-quality youth and family programs that promote belonging, engagement, and fun in a safe, inclusive environment. The coordinator ensures excellence in program delivery, staff supervision, and member experience while fostering strong relationships with children, parents, and volunteers.
SALARY RANGE: $23 - $25/Hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop, organize, and deliver engaging youth and family programs such as family nights, enrichment classes, school break camps, and special events.
- Ensure programs align with YMCA values, safety standards, and licensing requirements (if applicable).
- Support the development and implementation of new program offerings based on community needs and member feedback.
- Recruit, train, and supervise part-time program staff and volunteers.
- Provide ongoing coaching, recognition, and performance feedback to create a positive, high-performing team.
- Maintain accurate staff schedules and ensure proper coverage for all programs.
- Ensure adherence to YMCA policies and procedures, including supervision ratios, emergency procedures, and child abuse prevention guidelines.
- Conduct regular site and equipment inspections; report and address hazards immediately.
- Maintain accurate program records, incident reports, and participant information.
- Build relationships with members, participants, and families to support retention and community connection.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding program updates, child progress, and upcoming events.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote cross-program participation and family involvement in the Y.
- Support program registration, attendance tracking, and billing processes.
- Assist in developing and monitoring program budgets.
- Support fundraising, volunteer engagement, and special events as part of the YMCA
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth and vulnerable adults.
- Attend required abuse risk management training.
- Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth or vulnerable adults.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation;
- Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills; Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Ability to climb, push, and pull;
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 30 pounds.
