About the opportunity

Mercy Place Fernhill offers more than just a workplace—it’s a vibrant, compassionate community where staff are empowered to make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents every day. Nestled in the heart of Melbourne’s Bayside, this modern aged care home combines scenic beauty with a strong sense of purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care: Assisting residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.

  • Support with Meals: Helping residents with eating and drinking, and ensuring dietary needs are met.

  • Monitoring Wellbeing: Observing and reporting changes in residents’ physical or emotional health to nursing staff.

  • Companionship: Building trusting relationships and offering emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation.

  • Safety and Comfort: Ensuring residents are safe, comfortable, and treated with respect at all times.

What you’ll bring

You’re resilient, compassionate and have a whole lot of heart. Most importantly, you are committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.

Purpose:

  • To enhance the quality of life for older adults by providing compassionate, respectful, and person-centred care.

  • To support clinical staff by assisting with non-medical tasks and contributing to a holistic care environment.

  • To promote independence while offering the necessary assistance to help residents live with dignity.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent)

  • NDIS Clearance

  • Valid ID

  • Professional Reference
