Position Description:
The Event Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the success of the Lifestyle Department at SunRiver St. George. This position assists in planning, organizing, and executing a wide range of community events and activities. The ideal candidate is creative, proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering exceptional hospitality experiences. This role requires excellent teamwork, strong communication skills, and the ability to perform under pressure while upholding the values and community rules of SunRiver St George.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of community events from setup to cleanup
- Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Department to align event offerings with resident interests
- Work directly with Clubs, Groups, and external vendors to ensure seamless service delivery
- Manage vendor contracts and ensure timely invoice processing
- Create event materials, including flyers, signage, and tickets
- Ensure all events comply with community guidelines and safety standards
- Regularly assist in the kitchen, including food prep, serving, bussing, and dishwashing
- Coordinate with other departments for smooth event operations
- Promptly address and resolve resident questions or concerns during events
- Maintain inventory of event supplies
- Support the creation of new monthly events and enhance existing offerings
- Maintain written records and simple documentation related to events
Working Conditions
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and climbing required
- Ability to set up and take down tables, chairs, and event equipment
- Verbal and written communication required in person, over the phone, and via email
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts based on event needs
- Responsible for ensuring event equipment is functional and sanitation standards are upheld
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-year experience in the hospitality industry
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Banquet or event service experience preferred
- Valid Food Handler's Permit (required)
- First Aid and CPR certification (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 preferred manage challenging situations professionally
- Experience with event décor and creative event enhancements
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 preferred
- Experience with Canva is a plus
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with shifting priorities
Requirements
Must be flexible working a shift to include Monday to Saturday
Hours: 20-25-hours per week
The schedule would include a variety of afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays. The candidate should also be aware that working in hospitality sometimes requires events on holidays, such as Halloween or New Year’s Eve.
