AOD Team Members assist the AOD Team Leader in supporting the recovery of those experiencing addiction to substances. Support includes assistance in preparing and facilitating group sessions, as well as during individual sessions by conducting assessments and referrals, note-taking and transferring information to a confidential database.
Key responsibilities:
Support group facilitation - Assist in the preparation of group sessions including all preparing materials, setting up the room and furniture, and preparing refreshments. Engage participants and foster constructive and respectful dialogue.
Support individual assessments – Under the guidance of the AOD Team Leader, assess individuals, provide referrals, take notes and enter information into database.
Community meals – Assist in the preparation of lunch, which includes shopping for ingredients and preparing meals, setting up lunch area, and clean up after meals.
Connect with participants – Engage informally with AOD participants, helping them feel welcome and supported, to experience a trusted and reliable environment.
Qualifications and skills (desired/required):
Experience in supporting those with an addiction – work experience and/or lived experience
Qualifications in Social Work, Community Support or equivalent highly regarded
Keen interest in working with people experiencing addiction and committed to supporting their recovery journey
First Aid certificate highly regarded
