Salary: Starting at $21 / hour – depending on experience

 

Job Summary

This position performs phlebotomy for residents and includes performing and coordinating resident/patient appointments.  The successful candidate will also perform various tasks to support the laboratory RN.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all legal requirements of the medical center.
  • Ensure all office, lab equipment is verified, inspected as required, and in optimal working condition.
  • Submit all maintenance requests to medical center manager.
  • Maintain and monitor stock levels and supplies for the Lab. Submit supply requests to the medical center manager.
  • Prior to all scheduled appointments for the lab check EMR to assure all test results, notes, and consents required for the visit are retrieved from the internal fax system or hard copy from chart and scanned into the EMR.
  • Utilize all lab equipment appropriately.
  • Act as liaison between the physicians and laboratory services providing information regarding testing.
  • Comply with all Regulatory Requirements for Laboratory Services.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of accurate laboratory records.
  • Perform quality control functions such as, recording the loggers to assure proper temperature control of the refrigerators/freezers as directed by the Laboratory Nurse
  • Assist with the preparation of the daily/weekly lab draw schedules.
  • Assist with the tracking system for all immunization programs through the EMR and coordinate appointments with the front desk personnel.
  • Assist with the coordination of the Vaccine clinic.
  • Act as backup when the Laboratory nurse is unavailable.
  • Schedule any new and follow up appointments requested by staff and notify front desk of add on appointments or emergencies.
  • Advise front desk of any changes to the schedules.
  • Perform Administrative tasks, including photocopying, faxing, scanning and any filing.
  • Completes all mandatory trainings as required
  • Attends inter-office meetings as necessary
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed by the manager.

 

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Certification in Medical Assisting or Phlebotomy Required.
  • Phlebotomy experience required.
  • 2+ years experience in a clinical setting. Medical office experience preferred.
  • Medical terminology, EMR experience preferred. Quest Care 360 a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional typing skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi task and prioritize in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with all colleagues
  • Display outstanding organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to offer guidance and communicate in an appropriate manner.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPPA requirements.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
