Position Overview

The IT Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and enhancing all information technology systems that support The Dewberry’s operations. This role ensures seamless performance of hotel systems—including property management, point-of-sale, telecommunication, and network infrastructure—while safeguarding data security and compliance. The IT Systems Manager partners with department heads to ensure technology enables exceptional service delivery in line with The Dewberry’s brand of Southern Reimagined hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Management & Support

  • Oversee daily performance of hotel IT systems including PMS (Property Management System), POS, sales & catering, reservations, and accounting platforms.
  • Manage installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting for hardware, software, servers, and network infrastructure.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for system vendors, external IT support, and technology service providers.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively address issues to minimize downtime.

Data Security & Compliance

  • Maintain cybersecurity protocols, firewalls, and antivirus protection to safeguard guest and company data.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI, GDPR, and other relevant data security standards.
  • Conduct periodic system audits and ensure regular data backup and recovery procedures.

Strategic Planning & Projects

  • Evaluate new technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and guest experience.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement IT strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Lead IT-related projects including system upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
  • Provide reporting and analytics to support decision-making across departments.

Team & Training

  • Provide end-user support and training to hotel staff on IT systems, ensuring proper use and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with People & Culture to ensure onboarding includes appropriate IT setup and training.
  • Support internal teams with hardware and software needs, including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and guest-use technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of IT management experience, preferably in hospitality or a related service industry.
  • Strong knowledge of PMS, POS, telephony systems, Microsoft 365, and network infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity practices and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate service agreements.
  • Professional, resourceful, and adaptable in a fast-paced luxury hospitality environment.

Work Environment

  • Based on-site at The Dewberry in Charleston, SC.
  • Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, with flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
  • Travel may be required at the direction of management and ownership.
