The Shelborne will introduces four vibrant new food & beverage destinations to the neighborhood, each suited for warm weather dining, with an all-day signature restaurant, a lobby bar- lounge, and curated cafe. Resort amenities include a spacious pool and lush garden lounge, indoor-outdoor cabanas, sundeck terrace, state-of-the-art fitness center, dedicated access to a private beach club, and more than 15,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting & event space.
Job Summary:
The Banquet Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving beverages to guests during banquet events, ensuring a high level of service and guest satisfaction. You will work closely with the banquet team to ensure that beverage service runs smoothly, and that guests’ needs are met in a timely and professional manner. The Banquet Bartender will also maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, manage inventory, and adhere to all safety and alcohol service regulations.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Beverage Preparation & Service:
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to guest requests and hotel standards, ensuring each drink is served with precision and care.
- Create a variety of classic cocktails, wine pairings, and customized drinks as requested by guests.
- Ensure that all beverages are served promptly, with attention to presentation and guest preferences.
- Guest Interaction & Satisfaction:
- Provide attentive and friendly service to guests, ensuring all requests are met promptly and professionally.
- Engage with guests in a warm and friendly manner, offering recommendations or information about available drink options.
- Handle guest complaints and concerns with professionalism, ensuring quick and effective resolution while maintaining a positive guest experience.
- Inventory & Stock Management:
- Monitor and maintain bar inventory, ensuring that all necessary ingredients, garnishes, and supplies are stocked for the event.
- Report low inventory levels to management and assist with inventory management, including receiving deliveries and restocking supplies as needed.
- Ensure proper storage of alcohol and other beverages to comply with hotel and legal requirements.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to all hotel policies, procedures, and local laws related to alcohol service, ensuring that all guests are served responsibly and in accordance with age restrictions.
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and intervene as necessary to ensure a safe and responsible environment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following health and safety guidelines and using proper sanitation practices.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of bartending experience, preferably in a banquet or event setting.
- TIPS/RBS certification (Training for Intervention Procedures) or similar alcohol service certification preferred.
Skills/Specialized Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cocktail recipes, and mixing techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing event requirements.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, including kegs, bottles, and bar equipment.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
