Are you an ambitious reporter keen to make a mark in multi-media journalism? Do you have the drive and determination to hold power to account? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for a video journalist to join our news team working across West Yorkshire, covering one of the busiest news patches in the country.

This high-profile role is an amazing opportunity for someone who wants to start a broadcast career using cutting-edge media tools to produce content for the Local Democracy Reporting Service, funded by the BBC.

Working with an existing team of local democracy reporters to hold the county's local councils and authorities to account, you will produce striking, high-quality, distinctive journalism for online, social media, television and radio.

We are looking for a hungry self-starter who wants to show they have what it takes to produce multimedia video content for the region’s publishers and broadcasters. Prior experience of self-shooting, laptop editing and live reporting is desirable, but full training will be given to the lucky candidate who lands this role.

You will be based at our newsroom in Bradford and will be expected to cover council and public meetings, as well as to go out and talk to people.

An ability to get around the patch is therefore essential. You will need a full driving licence and access to your own car.

The local democracy reporter scheme is funded via the BBC, but you will be employed by Newsquest and will be a key member of the West Yorkshire team.

Your content will go out on a wire and will be available to the county’s leading news outlets, including the BBC and ITV.

So, if you’re passionate about telling great stories and have the skills and experience to produce great video and audio for on-air and online, then we’d love to hear from you.
