We’re seeking an experienced Guardrail & Bridge Estimator to join a well-established heavy civil contractor specializing in bridge repair, guardrail installation, structural rehabilitation, and related highway infrastructure services. This role is ideal for someone who understands the nuances of guardrail systems and bridge work, enjoys collaborating closely with field teams, and can confidently take projects from bid to completion with minimal supervision.

You’ll play a vital part in supporting long-term multi-site projects across Maryland, preparing accurate estimates, attending key site meetings, and ensuring competitive, compliant bids are submitted on time. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for guardrail, bridge repair, and structural maintenance projects.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, and field site visits to gather scope details and assess project conditions.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze project plans, specifications, and field measurements to prepare accurate bids.
• Collaborate with field crews, project managers, and leadership to validate pricing strategies and ensure all bid components are accounted for.
• Track ongoing multi-year contracts with multiple project locations, ranging from short-term maintenance work to long-term bridge rehabilitation efforts.
• Communicate with state DOT and other public agencies regarding remedial work reporting requirements.
• Contribute to process improvements and efficiency by leveraging estimating software or introducing new tools and systems.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Guardrail estimating experience – hands-on understanding of guardrail systems, installation, and materials is essential.
• Experience with bridge repair, highway construction, or structural infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work independently — previous estimator was 80% self-sufficient.
• Strong field awareness — comfortable conducting site assessments and translating findings into accurate estimates.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Background with DOT or municipal infrastructure bids.
• Familiarity with multi-year contracts and phased project schedules.
• Proficiency with ProBid, Excel-based estimating tools, or willingness to adopt new estimating software.
