Job Summary
The Benefits Coordinator supports patients by assisting with AHCCCS/Medicaid applications, insurance verifications, and billing inquiries. This role advocates for patient coverage, helps navigate complex eligibility requirements, and ensures accurate enrollment and reporting. As a key resource, the coordinator works closely with patients to maximize available benefits and access to care. This position will also be responsible for verifying insurance, help with insurance cancellations, advocate for patient coverage, and answer any billing questions.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Under general supervision of the A/R Manager, assumes primary responsibility for the Axiom Care benefits coordination including all enrollment and program reporting.
- Helps patients identify and apply for programs like Medicaid and other financial assistance to cover healthcare costs.
- Assist with gathering all pertinent information to complete forms for the application process.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring patients get the maximum insurance coverage available and assisting them in navigating complex eligibility requirements.
- Help determine which government programs (like Medicaid/AHCCCS), private insurance plans, or other resources a patient qualifies for.
- Using the HEA+ (CP-AO) Assistor program, assist patients in completing the necessary forms to apply for insurance programs.
- Monitors the completion of financial information forms and state residential information while maintaining confidentiality.
- Constantly monitors the HEA+ client base and “Eligibility Summary” for enrollment status and determination of eligibility.
- Research benefits related issues, concerns and works to resolve problems
- Submit claims and all communications pertaining to the claims being submitted

- Negative TB Test result within the past 12 months
Education/Experience
- HEA+ (CP-AO) Assistor experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of related experience required.
- Healthcare setting preferred
