Our San Antonio, TX Service Center is seeking a Thermal Spray Operator for MD&A’s Industrial Gas Turbines Division.
Thermal Spray Operation: Follow Work Instructions, Load Programs into the ABB Robots, Operate and maintain HVOF & PLASMA spray equipment, including HVOF guns, PLASMA guns and spray systems. Ensure that the equipment is calibrated, configured, and ready for coating applications.
Preparing Surfaces: Properly prepare surfaces to be coated, by cleaning, Masking, grit blasting, and ensuring the surface is free from contaminants, ensuring optimal adhesion of the coating.
Material Preparation: Handle and prepare thermal spray materials, including powders to be fed into the HVOF & PLASMA gun for the coating process.
Coating Application: Skillfully apply HVOF &PLASMA thermal spray coatings on various substrates while adhering to precise parameters such Gases, Powder fed and Coating Thickness
Quality Control: Continuously monitoring the spray process to ensure it meets specifications. This often involves using precision tools like calipers and micrometers to measure coating thickness and other parameters.
Safety Compliance: Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout department and work facility Personally, observe safety and security procedures and proper use of equipment and material Actively promote safety process.
Documentation: Accurately recording process data, including material usage, coating thickness, and other quality control checks.
Requirements
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is the basic requirement. A vocational or technical degree in a related field, like welding technology, can be a plus.
- Mechanical Aptitude: You must be good with your hands and have a strong understanding of how mechanical equipment works.
- Attention to Detail: Precision is crucial, as you're often working with tight tolerances and strict quality standards.
- Math Skills: Basic math skills are needed for measurements, calculations, and interpreting technical drawings.
- Problem-Solving: The ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues is a valuable skill.
