About the Role:

The Tool Room Attendant plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of the manufacturing or maintenance environment by managing and maintaining all tools and equipment. This position is responsible for the organization, distribution, and tracking of tools to various departments, ensuring that all tools are in good working condition and readily available when needed. The Tool Room Attendant supports production teams by minimizing downtime caused by tool shortages or malfunctions, thereby contributing to overall operational productivity. This role requires meticulous attention to detail to maintain accurate inventory records and to perform routine inspections and maintenance on tools. Ultimately, the Tool Room Attendant helps create a safe and efficient workplace by ensuring that all tools comply with safety standards and are properly stored and maintained.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, including their maintenance and safe operation.
  • Experience in inventory management or tool room operations is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to use computerized inventory systems or willingness to learn.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Tool Room Attendant or in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations related to tool handling and storage.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to perform minor tool repairs and maintenance.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Good communication skills to effectively coordinate with various departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the receipt, storage, and issuance of tools and equipment to authorized personnel.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using manual logs or computerized systems to track tool usage and availability.
  • Inspect tools regularly for wear, damage, or defects and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Ensure the tool room is organized, clean, and compliant with safety regulations at all times.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to forecast tool requirements and support operational needs.
  • Train and assist employees on proper tool usage and handling procedures to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Report any discrepancies, losses, or safety hazards related to tools promptly to management.

Attention to detail is essential when inspecting tools for damage and updating inventory records to prevent shortages or losses.
