About the Department

The City of Scottsdale is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support and enhance the network infrastructure behind one of the most critical public utilities — our municipal water systems. This position is part of the Water IT division and plays a key role in managing both enterprise and SCADA/ICS network environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience with Cisco Nexus, Catalyst, ICS/OT platforms, and will be responsible for maintaining secure, high-performance connectivity across both air-gapped and citywide networks. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated engineer to work on a diverse range of technologies, influence long-term infrastructure strategy, and help safeguard vital public services. Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity.  The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $120,536.00/annually.


Position Duties

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited educational institution.
  • Five years' network engineering experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.  The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
  • Preferred: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification.
  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment.
