About the Department

The Summit County Assessor’s Office is seeking a detail-oriented candidate who works well under pressure and has an analytical mind, for the position of Appraiser. Appraisers collect data from a variety of sources, utilize the Assessor’s database and other software applications, classifies and values residential and vacant land properties for ad valorem taxation, and defends values through the appeal process and before review boards. Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate must be accurate, organized, analytical, and exceptionally detail-oriented.  Strong math skills, professional and effective interpersonal communication skills, the ability to multi-task, work independently and on a fixed schedule, and execute judgment appropriately are required.  The candidate must also have strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to read and comprehend a variety of written documents.  It is beneficial for the candidate to have knowledge of or be able to learn basic construction concepts, building materials, and ability to locate properties in the field.  Prior experience in the field of real estate – appraisal, escrow, lending, architecture, property maintenance or management and construction – is preferred.  Candidate must have a Colorado Appraisal License (Ad Valorem, Certified Residential, or Certified General) or be able to acquire one within the first two years of their employment and a valid Colorado Driver’s License at the time of appointment and throughout employment.
