Job Description Summary:
The Associate Executive Director (AED) supports the Executive Director in leading the overall operations of the YMCA branch, including program development and delivery, staff supervision, community engagement, fundraising, and financial performance. The AED ensures high-quality member and participant experiences and promotes the YMCA’s mission, values, and strategic goals.

Essential Functions
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
- Provides leadership and vision in the improvement and development of existing and new programs to better meet the needs of members and of the community.
- Develops, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed monthly and annual targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on the current operations
- Assist in leading and managing day-to-day branch operations across multiple program areas (e.g., membership, youth development, aquatics, wellness, sports, and camp).
- Directly supervises program directors; supports staff development, reviews and evaluates staff performances. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
- Develop, implement, and manage an annual operating plan to promote innovation, excellence, and membership and program growth
- Support fundraising efforts including the annual campaign, donor relations, and special events to support the branch’s programs and services.
- Represent the YMCA along with the Executive Director in community collaborations, partnerships, and initiatives.
- Oversees safety protocols and risk management procedures to ensure a safe environment for all.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, recreation, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in YMCA operations or a similar nonprofit leadership role.
- Proven experience in managing people, programs, and budgets.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the YMCA
- Proven ability to build genuine relationships
- Capability to establish partnerships with community organizations.
- Must be able to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants and staff.
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
