Our Engineering team
Our Engineering team is responsible for developing our SaaS platform and building a comprehensive and user-friendly product. Pigment engineers participate in the entire application development lifecycle, focusing on design, coding, and keeping the production platform up and running. They can be specialized, but there is no strict separation between infrastructure, backend, and frontend.
We value user-centricity and pragmatism: we choose the most relevant tools for the problem we have to solve, understanding the strengths and constraints of each technology. Our engineering culture also values curiosity, humility, trust, ownership and team spirit.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineering Intern to help our SRE team build the future of Pigment’s infrastructure.
Pigment provides a platform to process and analyze large sets of data (up to several hundred million rows and terabytes of data) for business planning needs, to hundreds of customers. These datasets can be pivoted, transformed, and aggregated on-demand thanks to Pigment’s formula engine, rendering them in real time in our frontend.
As an SRE intern at Pigment, you will explore and could contribute to some of the following challenges:
- CI/CD Evolution: Investigate and benchmark alternative CI platforms (e.g., Dagger, GitLab CI, BuildKite) to replace CircleCI, focusing on developer experience, speed, cost efficiency, and security.
- Expanding our self-hosted CI infrastructure to multiple Google Cloud Platform regions: In order make it possible for Pigment engineers to end-to-end tests their features, we’re running a large suite of end-to-end tests on every relevant change. For that, we create thousands of short-lived ( ~15m) virtual machines every day. In order to keep the costs low, we’re relying on spot instances. However, these are not always available in the single region in which we host our CI infrastructure. The goal of the internship would be to make that CI infrastructure span multiple GCP regions, and have each CI run pick the cheapest region.
- Infrastructure Cost Optimization: Experiment with approaches to reduce infrastructure costs, such as running stateless workloads on spot instances in Kubernetes and improving binpacking efficiency on our Kubernetes nodes.
- Vault for Secrets Management: Improve our Vault setup (e.g., disaster recovery) and design a seamless developer experience for managing all application secrets securely.
- Operating Postgres at Scale: Support the migration of Postgres databases from Cloud SQL to CNPG, with a focus on:
-> Reliability and scalability
-> Zero-downtime upgrades
-> Running Postgres in Kubernetes with operators
-> Implementing Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)
You’ll be working closely with multiple members of the SRE team and the broader R&D organization, gaining hands-on experience with the real challenges of scaling infrastructure for a fast-growing SaaS product.
Pigment’s Technical Stack
During your internship, you’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the technologies that make up our stack:
Other tools: GitHub, Docker, Temporal, RabbitMQ, CircleCI, Vault
