Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control maintenance costs, staffing, and operating expenses within the approved budget.
- Supervise and assign daily maintenance tasks for at least two union maintenance team members (1st and 2nd shift).
- Lead transformation and continuous improvement of the Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance programs.
- Collaborate closely with Production Supervisors and the General Foreman to prioritize repairs, minimize downtime, and schedule installations.
- Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA, company, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs for cranes, mobile equipment, forklifts, and all OSHA-required records.
- Oversee work on both off-the-shelf equipment and complex, custom-built machinery.
- Provide technical direction in the troubleshooting, repair, and installation of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Requisition tools, parts, and materials as needed for timely repairs.
- Maintain and communicate key departmental KPIs (e.g., PM completion rate, downtime, MTTR, etc.).
- Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and develop training plans for direct reports.
- Support safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement activities plant-wide.
- Serve as the on-call maintenance leader for emergency repairs.
Qualifications
- Technical degree or equivalent hands-on maintenance experience (minimum 10 years in manufacturing required).
- Demonstrated leadership in a skilled trades or maintenance function.
- Strong background in industrial equipment, hydraulic systems, overhead cranes, and large mobile equipment.
- Working knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC), AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and mechanical/electrical diagnostics.
- Familiar with PM software and CMMS tools (Oracle experience a plus).
- Experience leading or contributing to Lean or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to supervise and lead union tradespeople.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
- Willing and able to be on call 24/7 for emergencies.
Working Conditions
- Plant and yard environment: noise, dust, heat, moving machinery.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, especially when troubleshooting equipment in the yard or pole forms.
