The sanitation lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily workloads of sanitation employees and trains new hires. The person in this position is able to perform all cleaning activities within the facility (packaging and processing) and works to ensure appropriate sanitation standards are met throughout.
Functions Of The Position:
- Coordinates and oversees the daily workloads of sanitation employees. Works with sanitation supervisor to improve/maintain employee productivity and efficiency. (50%)
- Responsible for documentation and follow-up of plant sanitation schedules.
- Trains sanitation worker I, II, and III employees on occupational hazards of duties performed.
- Maintains cleaning schedules, supply usage and quantity logs.
- Responsible for the instruction/training of chemical use, safety procedures and equipment use.
- Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
- Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
- Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
- Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
- Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College completion or coursework preferred.
- Three plus years' experience in sanitation lead role.
- Experience in a food processing environment with dry sanitation, preferred.
- Knowledge of sanitation chemicals required.
- Able to understand and speak English.
- Basic math skills required.
- Must have good manual dexterity and vision.
- Able to use industrial strength cleaners, degreasers, and sanitizers.
- Ability to tear down and re-assemble critical equipment independently.
- Able to train and coach less experienced workers.
- Good decision-making skills required.
- Good interpersonal skills.
