Hamilton East Public Library is seeking a part-time Ignite Studio Assistant to support our makerspace and library services. This role provides customer service, program facilitation, and administrative support, with a strong focus on Ignite Studio equipment, resources, and programs.

We are looking for candidates who can work year-round.
Starting Pay: $14.56 per hour

Required Schedule (2-week rotation):

  • Week 1: Monday 2:00–8:00 pm | Saturday 10:00 am–6:00 pm | Sunday 12:00–6:00 pm
  • Week 2: Monday 12:00–8:00 pm | Wednesday 9:00 am–5:00 pm | Friday 9:00 am–1:00 pm

Essential Functions

  • Assist guests with library services, resources, and facilities, with a focus on Ignite Studio maker equipment and supplies.
  • Deliver engaging in-house programs, community events, and outreach services.
  • Collect and record usage data and customer feedback.
  • Support customers in locating and using information and resources.
  • Assist in maintaining Ignite Studio equipment, supplies, and resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Required: Associate’s degree (or equivalent) and at least six months of customer service experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in art or technology instruction and/or familiarity with maker equipment.

  • Customer Service: Deliver prompt, friendly, and professional service; follow through on commitments; actively seek and respond to feedback.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively, share learning, support coworkers, and use good judgment with minimal supervision.

  • Public Image: Represent the library positively and promote programs and services.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with computers and related software; experience with library systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle materials and technology.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing; listen and read effectively.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Travel to outreach events may be required; a valid driver’s license is necessary.
