The Role...

As the Membership Manager (MM) you will be responsible for curating and growing the Cities Without Houses (CWH) Membership across the Midlands, while exploring new prospective cities across England and Ireland. Your main focus will be recruiting new members and retaining existing ones while delivering a seamless exceptional member experience. 

You will work closely with local committees, build strong relationships with key creative communities and ensure that Soho House values and brand are reflected in every member interaction. As the Membership Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the member experience from inductions through to events and communications. You will also be the day to day contact for your members managing member enquiries while being Soho houses eyes and ears on the ground. 

A marketing background would be an advantage – understanding and running acquisition strategies while driving retention and engagement initiatives. Being comfortable with data and numbers to analyse performance and look for trends and challenges. Having the skills to put in place marketing campaigns to deliver on growth, retention and engagement of members.

As the Membership Manager you will need to be highly social and content media savvy, with an ability to ideate and execute mini campaigns with mighty and measurable positive impact that directly aid the conversion of leads to new members. 

You will report into the Head of Membership, ensuring membership targets are achieved and that the overall member experience is consistently high quality, friendly and memorable. 

In this role you are accountable for managing your time, achieving your goals, meeting members expectations. Therefore, although you will have help through your colleagues, such as an event producer  etc, success will largely be down to you.

Key Responsibilities...

  1. Recruitment & retention
  • Drive regional membership recruitment, expanding Soho House’s network specifically across the Midlands and emerging markets like Belfast and Bristol.
  • Leveraging your existing network in the creative industries to attract high-profile members from sectors such as film, art, fashion, media, and tech.
  • Develop and execute strategies to meet quarterly membership targets, ensuring that the member base is diverse, inclusive, and reflective of the cities’ creative communities.
  • Oversee and be responsible for the recruitment and management of liaisons in your cities, setting them objectives and managing their performance
  1. Committees & Local Leadership
  • Build, grow, and motivate local membership committees, ensuring they reflect Soho House’s diversity and inclusion pledge.
  • Foster relationships with committee members to ensure active participation in the membership process and support the recruitment of high-caliber new members.
  1. Member Experience & Events
  • Curate and oversee the creation and execution of engaging activity and impactful events, ensuring that every experience delivers the unique "Soho House magic" and promotes member engagement.
  • Ensure that new members feel welcomed and integrated into the Soho House community, managing their onboarding process and hosting introductions as necessary.
  1. Communications, social and content Media
  • Execute a communications plan that keeps members informed, engaged, and excited about the offerings in your region.
  • Partner with membership leaders to create content and manage internal communications to deliver a seamless experience.
  • Build relationships with regional Press
  • Drive Mini Content media and Social media Campaings that drive signups
  1. Local Outreach & Networking
  • Conduct significant outreach within the creative communities of the Midlands, Belfast and Bristol to establish key contacts, connectors, and opinion leaders.
  • Build strong relationships with local creative groups and individuals to promote Soho House and drive brand awareness.
  1. Membership Quality & Admin
  • Review membership applications to ensure all new members meet the high standards expected of Soho House.
  • Oversee membership administration, ensuring all internal processes are followed, and manage member data through CRM systems such as Salesforce.
  1. Member Behaviour & Support
  • Handle member concerns and behavioural issues, making difficult calls when necessary, and documenting the outcomes in line with Soho House policies.
  1. Local Intel & Market Awareness
  • Continuously gather insights on the local creative scenes, including trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Stay informed about the social and cultural landscape across cities to ensure Soho House stays relevant and competitive.
  1. Collaboration with Wider Membership Team
  • Participate in international membership calls, meetings, and brainstorms to share best practices and ideas.
  • Work closely with Soho House teams across events, marketing, and content to ensure consistent member engagement and a high-quality member experience.
  1. Brand Ambassador
  • Represent Soho House globally, embodying the brand’s core values, ethos, and commitment to fostering creativity, diversity, and inclusion.

What you'll need to succeed...

  • Strong Network: Established network of contacts across the Midlands and emerging markets creative industries.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Self-motivated, driven, and able to work independently to deliver results.
  • Marketing Experience: will be an advantage. Understanding acquisition, engagement and retention strategies.
  • Analytical: being comfortable with data and numbers and an inquisitive mindset to want to delve into what the data is telling us
  • Content Media and Social Media Savvy: A proven ability to ideate and deliver mini campaigns.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written skills for marketing content, member communications, and event copy; emotionally intelligent in handling difficult conversations.
  • Highly Organised: Capable of managing multiple tasks, prioritising workload, and overseeing team performance across the region.
  • Commercial Acumen: Understanding of how to balance membership targets with quality engagement.
  • Charismatic & Creative: A confident, engaging personality with a passion for creative industries such as fashion, art, music, and film.
  • Event Experience: Prior experience in programming or producing events (or a willingness to collaborate closely with an events producer).
  • Diversity & Inclusion Advocate: A commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in line with Soho House’s global pledge and values.
  • Proficient in Technology: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, Trello, or similar systems.
  • Flexible and Adaptable: Willingness to travel frequently within your region and work flexible hours, including late nights and weekends.
  • Eligibility to Work in the UK: Right to work in the UK is essential for this role.
