Summary Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide instruction to students in both the classroom setting and the laboratory setting
Create and implement a classroom disciplinary plan
Create lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction
Participate in building, grade level, and subject area committees
Participate in professional development activities
Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and discipline
Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner
Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns
Participate as a member of an IEP team, 504 team, or other student assistance teams as requested
Implement special educational plans such as 504 plans, individual educational programs, and individual health plans
Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as directed by Board policy
Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher
Subject area teachers may have additional duties and responsibilities
Properly prepare students to compete in the SkillsUSA competitions on the district, state, and national levels
Properly prepare students for the ASE Entry-Level Student Certification
Be an active instructor in the SkillsUSA Chapter
Expected to be active in teaching Community Education classes throughout the school year
Maintain a working automotive repair shop for student learning that is safe for all and is conducive to learning.
Supervisory Duties Supervise students at all times and locations (field trips, school activities, laboratory areas, etc.) CTSO Supervision (SkillsUSA)
Qualifications Education Bachelors Degree 6,000 hours in Industry in the last 10 years (TAC)
TAC Standards Career Education Temporary authorization route to certification: An individual with closely related occupational experience takes a prescribed list of coursework, teaches for a minimum of two years, and is mentored by the employing school district. The individual works under a one-year, renewable certificate that requires the completion of six (6) semester hours of college credit each year in order to be renewed.
Must be employed by a Career Technical Center or school district with an approved program for Career Technical Education
Must possess one of the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university and four thousand (4,000) hours of Department-approved, closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years; or
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and five thousand (5,000) hours of Department-approved, closely related occupational experience within the past ten (10) years; or
No degree and six thousand (6,000) hours of Department-approved, closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate Career Education TAC ASE Certified Technician Motor Vehicle Inspector Certified Valid Drivers License
Skills and Abilities Language An individual who holds this position must have the ability to: Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, Board policy, administrative procedures and forms, and governmental regulations and guidance Complete forms, write reports, and engage in written correspondence with parents Present information effectively and respond to questions Write clear and complete lesson plans Interact with the public for the purpose of the automotive repair learning laboratory Computation An individual who holds this position must have the ability to: Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations Compute basic formulas for customer sales Reasoning An individual who holds this position must have the ability to: Solve a variety of problems in many different situations Interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students Other Skills and Abilities An individual who holds this position must have the ability to: Identify the needs and abilities of individual students and adapt instructional methods accordingly Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents Perform multiple tasks simultaneously Have a working knowledge of automotive maintenance, including but not limited to tune-ups, tire rotation, brake repair, oil changes, steering alignment, automotive diagnostics, engine repair, drivetrain repair, and electrical systems. Technology An individual who holds this position must have the ability to: Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use Use district software for recording grades and finding student information Utilize smart boards, projectors, and other instructional technology provided by the district Be able to use and manage shop management software properly Have experience with MOTIS vehicle diagnostic tools Have experience with automotive alignment tools

Physical Demands An individual who holds this position must have the ability to: Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously Move around the classroom Read handwritten or printed material Work in various temperatures (Laboratory Work) Work standing on concrete Must be able to lift objects with a minimum of 50 lbs.
Attendance Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Conditions and Environment
The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. The individual will be required to work outdoors and in shop environments daily. The individual will be exposed to varying temperatures and to dirty and oily environments.
