Position Summary:
The AR (Accounts Receivable) Representative is responsible for managing accounts receivable functions by following up on outstanding insurance and patient balances, performing claim status checks, identifying and resolving denials, and collaborating with payers and internal departments to secure reimbursement.
Essential Duties:
- Manage aging reports, verify claim statuses, resolve denied or underpaid claims, and escalate reimbursement issues to support timely revenue collection.
- Prepares and distribute invoices, follows up on overdue payments, resolves billing discrepancies, and assists with both primary and secondary billing efforts.
- Accurately record and post financial transactions, update account records, and ensure prompt and correct payment application.
- Reconcile account receivable ledgers and bank statements, generates reports to support monthly financial close processes.
- Responds to patient and payer inquiries, resolves account concerns, processes refunds or credits, and ensures compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or certification in medical billing/coding preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in healthcare accounts receivable, medical billing, or RCM environment.
- Knowledge of commercial and government insurance payers, including Medicare and Medicaid preferred.
- Familiarity with EOBs, ERAs, denial codes, and appeals processes.
- Proficiency in practice management systems and EHR platforms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, insurance companies, and other staff members. Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability of working Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (40 hours per week) at our Plano, TX location.
