The McCallie School, founded in 1905, is one of the country’s outstanding independent schools, serving about 1,000 day and boarding students (all boys) in grades 6-12 from 25 states and 20 countries.
Position Overview
McCallie seeks a Social Media Content Creator to share the stories and impact of McCallie and the unique experiences of its boys with a broad and diverse audience, including current and prospective students and parents; alumni; friends and supporters of the school; and broader external audiences. The ideal candidate will be passionate about digital storytelling, skilled in creating compelling video and other content across multiple platforms, and eager to showcase the life, traditions, and values of McCallie. This role will be central in advancing the school’s visibility, reputation, and engagement online. The social media content creator will join a talented and award-winning marketing and communication team that strives to be best in class among schools in the United States.
This is a 12-month (year-round), full-time position. It is considered exempt under the FLSA, and it is eligible for full benefits. The Social Media Content Creator reports to the Director of Communications & Marketing.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and post engaging content (video, photo, graphic, text) daily on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube, and LinkedIn
- Capture and highlight daily life at McCallie, especially in academics, athletics, arts, boarding life, faculty, school spirit, and community events
- Collaborate with communications, admissions, development, and athletics to support campaigns and initiatives
- Monitor trends, analytics, and platform insights to optimize reach and engagement. Stay current on social media best practices, emerging platforms, and digital marketing tools
- Assist in creating social media content calendars
- Ensure brand consistency across all channels
- Engage authentically with the school community online by responding to comments and messages, and fostering positive interaction
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, media studies, or related field, or equivalent professional experience (or show us you’re incredibly talented without it)
- Demonstrated experience creating social media content for an organization, brand, or personal platform
- Strong skills in photography, videography, and editing (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools)
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and creative thinking skills
- Ability to work collaboratively, meet deadlines (including daily ones), and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with independent schools, education, or youth-centered storytelling is a plus
