Posting Summary: The mission of the Early Childhood Program is to provide high quality education for preschool-age children through a nurturing, engaging, culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate curriculum. We are seeking a passionate school psychologist to join our team and contribute to the well-being of our students. The program serves 230 students (split primarily into two half-day sessions) from Highland Park and Highwood, IL and is hosted at Oak Terrace Elementary School. Essential Functions:
The school psychologist plays a pivotal role in supporting students’ academic, cognitive, social, and emotional well-being. Their key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate students, understanding age-appropriate academic and behavioral expectations, and are adept in the development and implementation of intervention plans for students. They will interpret assessment results and effectively communicate findings, as well as participate in the development of appropriate IEPs and 504s. The school psychologist is actively engaged in and/or facilitation of the MTSS process, to include Problem-Solving Meetings.
A. Planning and Preparation
Demonstrates knowledge and skill in using psychological instruments to evaluate students
Demonstrates knowledge of age appropriate academic and behavioral expectations
Demonstrates knowledge of educational eligibility categories
Demonstrates knowledge of academic and behavioral interventions
Demonstrates knowledge of services/programs within the school and district
B. PST//Therapeutic Environment
Promotes practices that support problem solving throughout the school
Works with building administration to establish and maintain clear procedures for problem-solving
Supports school-wide universal screening (CBM)
Active engagement in or facilitates problem solving (PST) meetings
C. Instruction/Delivery of Service
Consults with teachers, administrators, and other school staff
Assesses student needs through the IEP evaluation process
Plans, evaluates or supports student progress in interventions
Compiles, analyzes, and communicates school-wide-data
D. Professional Responsibilities & Personal Qualities
Communicates with families through evaluation and/or problem-solving processes
Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with professional and legal standard
Stay current on research and best practices in the field of school psychology, applying this knowledge to inform decision-making and interventions
Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance skills and stay abreast of changes in the field
Demonstrates professionalism including integrity, advocacy, and maintaining confidentiality
Establishes rapport with students, parents, and staff, using interpersonal skills
Produces well-written, clear and thorough reports
Serves as a member of the building Threat Assessment team
Qualifications:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with proper endorsement(s):school pyschology
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decision regarding the safety and welfare of students
Appreciation of cultural diversity
Ability to effectively incorporate instructional technology
Working Conditions:
Salary: Per NSEA New Teacher Hire Grid for the 2025-26 school year, excellent benefits, TRS Retirement Pension Service Credit, paid sick, personal, bereavement leave, and other benefits.

Selection Procedure:
