A Day in the Life

The Senior Manager, Frontend Engineering will be responsible for leading a team of frontend engineers. The team is responsible for ensuring the alignment of web design and user experience requirements, optimizing for maximum efficiency, and maintaining brand consistency across all web pages, among other duties. The team works alongside back-end developers, graphic designers, and user experience designers to ensure all elements of the user interface are consistent and performant. The Senior Manager, Frontend Engineering will be hands-on with day-to-day coding responsibilities as well as leading/growing the team. This role requires strategic leadership, excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization. Some travel may be required.

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Develop large-scale interactive web applications and integrate with backend APIs. 
  • Develop new user-facing features using React.js. 
  • Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use. 
  • Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code. 
  • Optimize components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers. 

 

Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience. 
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer building complex, scalable web and database applications. 
  • Experience with AWS/Cloud deployments. 
  • Experience with the design and operation of large-scale cloud services. 
  • Ability and desire to move across technology stacks fluently and easily. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.  
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model. 
  • Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles. 
  • Experience with popular React.js workflows (such as Flux or Redux). 
  • Familiarity with newer specifications of EcmaScript. 
  • Knowledge of isomorphic React is a plus, 
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs. 
  • Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token. 
  • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools. 
  • Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc. 
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements. 
  • A knack for benchmarking and optimization.

COMPENSATION RANGE

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000-$175,000 annually.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base salary for new hires for the position.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by multiple factors like job-related skills, experience, and state of residence.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the interview process.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting (approximately 95%), repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  It also may require occasional standing, lifting, carrying of 20lbs or less, walking, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing, and reaching above the shoulder.  Employees in this position must be physically able to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position.
