THE ROLE:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Business Development Director to build and grow external relationships and identify opportunities to grow revenues and increase profits in Europe, including Spain, France & Italy.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting our strategic objectives by leading and managing new client relationships to drive business growth, serving as the primary point of contact for new clients, overseeing all aspects of account development, developing and executing account plans, setting account targets and objectives, identifying areas of account growth and collaborating with internal teams to meet client objectives effectively and efficiently.

As well as leading BD and client-relationship management, the new accounts director will track new markets and trends, recommend new services, grow new strategic partnerships, identify and manage new client opportunities, participate and lead pitch presentations to potential clients, assist in proposal development, and help guide the long-term objectives to meet business objectives. This position requires excellent writing, communication and presentation skills, a strong understanding of the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

This is a full time virtual role, although occasional national and international travel (Europe and/or UK) will be required to attend in person team or company meetings and events.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 🔍

We're seeking a hard-working, detail-oriented individual who thrives on challenges and has excellent organisational skills.

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, Communications, or a related field. A master’s level degree or higher is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, technical lead, or similar, within the European pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Strong understanding of the European pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, including medical, regulatory and market access landscapes.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining client relationships, driving business growth, and meeting revenue targets.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strategic and analytic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective business strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM and proposal management software.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, compelling proposal content.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to familiarise yourself with the company’s vision and mission, seeking to accomplish set goals and objectives.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Must have right to work in Europe or UK.

Desirable Skills:

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with various levels of management, staff, and clients.
  • Experience with drafting business plans, sales pitches, presentations and other documents as required.
