GO there with us.We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to lead the development of Machine Learning and leverage Large Language Model, Experimentation, and Product Analytics for our Discovery and Content Intelligence experiences. These areas are strategically important to Go1 as we drive long-term growth. In Discovery our ambition is to empower Learners and Admins to discover the most relevant and valuable content tailored to their needs through advanced search and recommendation systems to deliver personalised impact at scale. In Content Intelligence we aim to develop a platform that enriches our ecosystem with high quality, well understood content using taxonomies and ontologies, and metadata and content quality.Our environment is fast paced and ambiguous, and you will be the first DS in Australia as we build a footprint in AU , joining an existing team of Data Engineers and an Analyst. This reflects the initial breadth of this role, whilst we build the team. You will have expertise in ML and statistical models, know when and how to be resourceful, building quick prototypes, with an eye to our long-term vision, making technical trade-offs, and you relish the idea of solving problems that we haven’t yet solved at scale.Keeping a business wide view, you will focus on the highest priorities and be able to understand the current landscape, assessing the feasibility of different data science projects.Your job family is Data, and there will be regular rituals that you will join as part of the Data Intelligence Team. However, your day to day will see you in more frequent delivery rituals with the colleagues across Product, Engineering and Content whom you are collaborating with to solve our business problems.Data Science Product Lifecycle

  • Assess the feasibility of initiatives and experiment with new methodologies to validate concepts and improve algorithms
  • Influence the Product Roadmap, supporting the Data Intelligence Leader in the shaping of our DS Roadmap, services and priorities
  • You will analyse large and vast amounts of data and design and build (python, sql) reliable, fit for purpose data solutions (statistical and/or ML models)
  • Structure experiments, analysing the outputs and using them to improve performance, as well as recommending ways to improve our experiment infrastructure and approach, to make them faster and more robust
Data Analysis and Insights
  • Perform critical analyses to inform product strategy and priorities. Retrieving, synthesising and presenting insights in a format that is immediately useful to answering specific questions, or improving performance
  • Exploratory analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities with engagement and content performance
Communication, Collaboration and Leadership
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Product, Engineering, Content, and other Data teams
  • Mentoring of other Data Scientists as they join our team
Skills And Experience Required
  • Master or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or related field
  • Proficient with data querying languages (SQL), scripting languages (Python)
  • 5+ years of data science experience
  • 2+ years of a/b testing and data visualisation experience
  • Experience of successful deployment of AI solutions
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Required experience with statistical models (regression) and ML models (RAG, ranking, reinforcement)
  • Desired experience in large scale distribution systems (Spark, Elasticsearch) and managing DS pipelines
  • Desired understanding of search and recommendation algorithms
  • Desired familiarity with taxonomies and ontologies
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
