About the job

Who we are

We’re a small startup team of 3 (frontend, backend, everything else) rethinking how Talent find jobs and how teams find Talent. We’re putting Talent first (that’s you!), reducing the noise, and stamping out the evil that is ghosting! Check out info.talentverse.com for more details. We’re operating as a small startup inside a larger tech-focused recruiting agency (Talentful). We recruit for the best of the best, including greats like OpenAI, DeepMind, SandboxAQ, Microsoft, Atlassian, Google X, Asana, Airalo, Wise, and many many more.

What we're looking for

Our founding frontend engineer is heading out on a 6 month world wide tour, so we’re looking for a software engineer who is open to contracting (at least initially) with 10-15 years experience who loves writing frontend code (Typescript/GraphQL), cares about the user, has a strong attention detail, and loves solving problems. We are geographically distributed with our backend engineer UTC+3 (Turkey) and Founder UTC-7 (California), so ideally you are located in UTC-5 (or willing to work UTC-5) so as to overlap both sides of the team.

What you'll be doing

As the frontend lead you will take ownership of the code structure, internal patterns and programming methods used to build the Talentverse. You will collaborate closely with our Founder and backend engineer to design launch new features, triage problems, and fix bugs using whatever tools and techniques are most appropriate. Our stack is written in Typescript/React/GraphQL for the frontend, and Java/Python for the backend, running on top of AWS. We design in Figma, and use Coda/Slack/Zoom to collaborate.

👉 You must have deep experience with understanding GraphQL Schemas and writing GraphQL code to succeed in this role

👉 You must be able to translate a Figma design to a pixel accurate renditions in React

How we strive to work

* Pixels Matter

* Don’t be annoying, and don’t be easily annoyed

* We ship daily.

* Unused code is debt

* Pragmatic over Dogmatic

* Kanban not Scrum

* We like discussions and problem solving with our teammates live

* We have daily zoom standups

* We’re present when we’re present, zoom is camera on

* Tickets are for tracking not discussion

* If it’s blocked, unblock it

* Waiting is losing
