Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.
Necessary personal characteristics for this position include knowledge of campus resources, connectedness to and involvement on campus, appreciation of diversity, maturity, approachability, dependability, flexibility, and good communication skills.
Ambassadors are expected to stay actively engaged by using Slack as the primary communication channel and the designated tool (Asana, Trello) for task management. Regular use of these platforms is essential to staying informed, collaborating effectively, and fulfilling responsibilities within the program.
Model and enforce all conflict resolution skills and policies while adhering to the role of a responsible mandated reporter.
Meet one-on-one with mentees for one 60-minute session per month.
Serve as a mentor for academic, co-curricular, and leadership involvement.
Assist in the planning of syllabus, course content, and class logistics when appropriate.
Document sessions by submitting the Interaction Report Form containing session summaries for each mentee.
Assess students’ needs and develop an individual plan to provide personalized support.
Monitor and assess student progress toward short-term and long-term goals during sessions throughout the semester.
Communicate any training needs and/or student concerns to your Program Manager.
Work with SOMOS Latinx staff to create and implement social media marketing plans each semester.
Oversee all social media accounts – currently Instagram.
Develop copy, photos, videos, and art/templates.
Manage social media engagement during programs and events.
Host special programs such as “Instagram takeovers and challenges.”
Monitor and respond to comments and direct messages in a timely manner.
Monitor other Berklee department Instagram accounts and cross-promote content/events hosted by other departments, specifically other programs under Identity-Based Programs.
Manage social media engagement during events.
Review analytics to assess success and recommend improvement.s
Be available to work within a minimum of 30 minutes before and after an event is scheduled to take place.
Assist with all aspects of event set-ups, including event coordination before, during, and after facility set-up and clean-up, student welcome and check-in, and event AV and stage support duties as assigned.
During the event, the student worker must monitor the event and its attendees at all times so they can promptly assist if/when needed, avoiding mingling with other students while on duty.
Serve as a liaison between students and the Program.
Represent SOMOS Latinx during events, i.e., Orientation, receptions, faculty/student workshops, and auditions.
Identify and research speakers, artists, and subjects that may contribute to the Latinx and Hispanic culture and the arts at Berklee.
Copying, scanning, printing, and assembling documents as needed by the Program Manager.
Run errands on campus.
Other duties as assigned.
To be eligible for the Student Ambassador program, students:
Must be an active member of the SOMOS Latinx Program.
Meet Berklee's Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards.
Minimum of 3.0 or higher GPA at the time of application.
Completion of Mandatory Training Sessions.
Ability to arrive by and be present for the following programs BEFORE the fall semester:
Ambassador Orientation: August 16, 2025
SOMOS Pre-Orientation Week: from August 16 to August 23, 2025
