Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.

The Office of Identity-Based Programs is home to the RISE: First Generation College Program.RISE’s mission is to help first-generation college students Reach Independence through Support and Engagement, better navigating their Berklee experience with the help of student-centric programming, social opportunities, and parent/family connections.
The RISE Ambassador reports to the Manager of Student Support Programs. Ambassadors must maintain a caring, service-oriented attitude with respect to college, conservatory, and program objectives. This attitude is represented in a willingness to attend all program training sessions and serve in capacities deemed appropriate by the Manager.
This job requires federal work-study eligibility and U.S. domestic status.
What is federal work-study? It’s available to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with financial need from their financial aid award to provide part-time employment when you’re enrolled in school. You can learn more about the federal work-study program here.

RISE Student Ambassadors are a dynamic group of prior program participants committed to helping and supporting first-generation college students at Berklee (College and Conservatory) in Boston. Ambassadors are student leaders who maintain a strong and consistent presence throughout RISE’s academic year events, serves as a peer mentor to the entering class, and participate in personal and professional development opportunities and educational pathways that lead to successful outcomes and excellence for first-generation students.
General Responsibilities
Student Ambassadors are expected to conduct themselves as campus leaders, exhibiting the behavior expected of a campus representative, including:
Represent Berklee (College and Conservatory) and the RISE program in a positive manner on/off campus
Serve as a peer mentor to entering first-year students and provide support as they adapt to a higher education environment with varying degrees of prior knowledge and support.
Exhibit leadership skills by modeling open communication, through listening and respectful dialogue with an understanding of the diverse needs of the first-generation college student community
Model and enforce all conflict resolution skills and policies, while adhering to the role of a responsible mandated reporter
Maintain effective communications throughout the academic year via email, phone, and in-person correspondence
Participate in social media posts and campaigns for the RISE program as outlined and requested by the Manager.
Events and Programs
Be available to work within a minimum of 30 minutes before and after an event is scheduled to take place.
Assist with all aspects of event set-ups, including event coordination before, during, and after facility set-up and clean-up, student welcome and check-in, and event AV and stage support duties as assigned.
During the event, the student worker must monitor the event and its attendees at all times so they can promptly assist if/when needed, avoiding mingling with other students while on duty.
Training
Participate in three (3) training sessions each semester (fall and spring) that focus on academic, social, and personal development.
Other
Represent the RISE program and the first-generation community when involved with events directly connected to leadership, staff, etc. (i.e. orientation, auditions, board of trustees, division or department meetings, etc.)
Participate in surveys, community outreach, and other assignments as per the Assistant Dean of Student Success throughout the academic year
Identify and research speakers, artists, and subjects that may be of interest to first-generation college students for Berklee.
Other duties as assigned
Eligibility
Must have attended one RISE event or program during the Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 semesters.
Meeting Berklee Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards
Minimum of 3.0 or higher GPA at time of application
Participate in three (3) professional development training sessions each semester (fall and spring)
