F1-Visa graduate students represent a growing demographic in graduate business programs, bringing diverse cultural perspectives, leadership expectations, and lived experiences; however, these students’ unique viewpoints are often underutilized within U.S. business curricula, which tend to reflect dominant cultural norms. This lack of integration can result in missed opportunities for leveraging cultural capital to enhance curriculum. There is a gap in research exploring international student experiences in business programs, especially at private universities in the United States.Theoretical Framework:
This study will use Transformative Learning Theory explore how critical reflection and engagement with diverse perspectives can promote integration of F1-Visa students' experiences into the curriculum.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in the gathering and synthesis of relevant literature
Assist in data collection and analysis through focus groups and interviews
Work collaboratively with principle and co-researcher
Attend regular project meetings and contribute to discussion on research progress and next steps
Help with administrative tasks related to the research project • Assist in the summarizing findings for academic and non-academic audiences
Required to complete CITI certification in human subjects research immediately following the start of the position. This certification ensures compliance with ethical research practices and is essential for conduct in our study.
Minimum Requirements
Due to the nature of this project, candidates with experience as an international student or a demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by international students in higher education are strongly encouraged to apply. This perspective is valuable for conducting research relevant to this population.
