About the Role

The Payroll Manager is responsible for leading the payroll function for the Finance team. This role manages payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and tax laws. The Payroll Manager is responsible for producing audit reports, handling end of year reporting, and supporting the annual 401K and financial statement audits. This is a 'hands on' position that requires strong attention to detail and advanced project management skills. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurate and timely processing of company’s semi-monthly payroll for 600+ exempt and nonexempt employees
  • Manage payroll policies & procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local wage and tax laws; including new state registrations and troubleshooting state notices related to withholdings, employer taxes
  • Support month and quarter end close activities, including approving payroll accounting journal entries and performing liability reconciliations
  • Maintain company’s payroll system (ADP)
  • Act as first point of contact for employee’s payroll questions
  • Serve as a liaison with the People Operations team to create employee-facing training/education materials, including fielding any employee questions and driving resolution
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to operationalize processes that track and validate payroll inputs
  • Generate labor and project allocation reports from time tracking system
  • Produce audit reports, payroll ledger exports, and other business insights as needed 
  • Review and furnish year end reports, including W-2, W-2c, etc
  • Support in the company’s annual 401K and financial statement audits
  • Ad hoc analysis, projects as needed

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant payroll experience, start up experience a plus
  • ADP experience is required, you will implement, configure and maintain ADP payroll module
  • Experience with major ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP) and SOX compliance/procedures, a plus
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Works with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality, especially relating to sensitive employee information
  • Concise and effective communicator
  • Incredible attention to detail with the ability to use knowledge of the business to recognize when something is “off”
  • Collaborative spirit and eagerness to improve processes that ultimately enhance the employee experience

This is an exempt role. Our job titles for each posting may span across more than one job level. The estimated base salary for this role is between $81,932 and $125,000. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salaries across all US locations. Compensation packages are based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, work experience, relevant trainings and certifications, business needs, market demands and specific geographical location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
