Position Description
SOAR New Student Orientation Leader Position
Join our dynamic team and play a dynamic role in welcoming new students to our Regis Ranger campus community. The Office of Student Engagement and Leadership is seeking highly motivated Regis students who are responsible, reliable, looking for opportunities to develop their leadership skills, and seeking to help orient new students to Regis. Your primary role will be to help new students navigate their transition to becoming a member of the Regis University community during Starting Out At Regis (SOAR: New Student Orientation). SOAR Leaders are positive, engaged, and excited Regis students looking to role model, speak about their experiences as a student, and lead small groups during Orientation. SOAR Leaders will journey with groups of incoming students to facilitate discussions, answer questions and provide support throughout the SOAR program. They will also assist with move-in responsibilities and provide logistical support for the successful implementation of orientation weekend.
Position Responsibilities
Orientation Support: Facilitate groups of new students through daily orientation discussions and programming.
Student Engagement: Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable resource for incoming students by answering questions, assisting with resources, engaging on social media, and offering support.
Student Move In: Assist new students and their families with residential move-in.
Logistics Management: Assist with logistical support for SOAR (this includes resetting meeting spaces, placing signs, directing traffic, assemble orientation folders, and other duties as assigned etc.)
Teamwork: Work closely with a diverse team of staff, faculty, and students where you are actively engaged, supporting the mission of orientation, and work to create an impactful new student experience.
Training: Attendance at mandatory during SOAR Leader training. Exact dates TBD. Mandatory attendance at all SOAR leader activities/commitments as identified by professional staff.
Qualifications:
A continuing Regis student who will have completed 24 credit hours of academic work by Fall 2024
Minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5.
Able to act as a role model, resource, and guide for new students.
Full time enrolled student, minimum course load of 12 hours, for Fall 2024 & Spring 2025 semesters.
Able to relate well with students, parents, faculty and administrators.
Understand and role model a commitment to the Regis Motto “How Ought We to Live?”
Have an interest in helping new students, faculty, staff, and families navigate the university experience.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Demonstrate exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills.
Show a commitment to diversity and learning.
Be team oriented.
Be in good disciplinary standing with the university.
Benefits-eligible for workers’ compensation and will receive 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
