Sponsored by CourseraThe Media Asset Manager is responsible for managing QVC’s digital assets and the publishing needs of QVC’s online platforms. Serves as subject matter expert on digital and video asset management best practices, metadata standards, content hierarchies, naming conventions, and functional requirements. Leads the design of metadata schemas, taxonomies, and controlled vocabularies that ensure a simple to use, customer-focused experience across all asset management systems. Partners with technology teams to identify areas for system enhancements and ensure timely resolution of technical issues affecting users. Provides guidance for consistency and enforcement of metadata requirements, content organization, user training, and workflow standards.
Day in the Life
- Serve as subject matter expert on enterprise-wide projects and initiatives, providing expertise on asset management and publishing best practices, metadata standards, content hierarchies, naming conventions, and functional requirements.
- Oversee QVC’s digital asset management and video publishing systems and operations based on industry and company standards.
- Develop and manage asset metadata strategy, verification of asset legal clearances, and identification and enforcement of retention and archiving policies.
- Support live on-air broadcast by developing on-air playlists and managing ingested assets for playout on various platforms.
- Provide authority on enforcement of metadata requirements, content organization, user training, and workflow standards for diverse teams of asset management users.
- Continually monitor workflows and processes to identify areas for system enhancements and improved efficiency and results. Regularly gauge user satisfaction and address pain points. Lead cross-departmental projects that improve video access and metadata usage and appreciation.
- Provide regular status reports and metrics on system and user activities to assure that workload
- Balances team workload to meet team deadlines.

Must Haves
- BS degree required in Film, Communications, Broadcasting, Library Science, Information Management, Management Science, Computer Science or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
5+ years of experience working in a matrixed corporate environment in a media management role.
Experience leading projects and setting standards. Knowledge of media management and publishing systems.
- Advanced understanding of metadata standards, schema, and best practices.
- Demonstrable experience managing digital assets or media publishing systems.
- Experience managing projects including requirements gathering, implementation and adoption.
- Ability to organize, consolidate and analyze data.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Ability to identify, challenge, and consider opportunities outside of conventional thinking and traditional ways of operating to resolve problems or inefficiencies. Strong problem-solving, organizational and logic skills, and an investigative mentality.
- Ability to demonstrate and articulate an understanding of how technical solutions impact the business.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to manage, prioritize and handle a variety of cross-functional requests, sometimes outside of normal working hours.
