About the role
Customer Markets Strategy Lead
As the Customer Markets Strategy Lead at AGL, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of energy retail in a rapidly evolving and disrupted market. With the industry undergoing a once-in-a-generation transformation driven by decentralization, decarbonization, and electrification, your role will be pivotal in guiding AGL’s strategic response. You will lead the development of both short- and long-term strategies that position AGL to meet the changing needs of customers in Australia. Collaborating across key areas—including customer acquisition and retention, marketing, channels, product, pricing, operations, and emerging energy trends—you will ensure a cohesive and forward-looking retail strategy that connects every customer to a more sustainable future.
What you will be doing:
Lead the development of Customer Markets’ strategy, including vision, mission, and strategic priorities, informed by market and industry trends.
Partner with senior leaders to align business unit strategies with overall planning and performance goals.
Foster strong relationships across the Customer Markets leadership team and stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and effective delivery.
Provide innovative, market-informed thought leadership that aligns with AGL’s enterprise strategy.
Deliver actionable recommendations in response to market shifts and customer trends, leveraging insights from Data Science and Insights teams.
Prepare high-quality strategic materials for executive and board-level discussions, while identifying growth opportunities and strategic partnerships.
What we would like to see you bring:
Tenured experience in strategy management consulting, with essential exposure to the energy sector.
Holds a Commerce or Engineering degree, MBA highly desirable.
Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to structure complex, ambiguous problems.
Exceptional written and visual communication skills, particularly in PowerPoint and Word.
Skilled in influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels through clear, persuasive verbal communication.
Proven project management capabilities with a strategic mindset and the ability to lead under pressure.
