About the role
We are looking for a Senior Associate with a background in major project development in the mining and energy sectors to join our Perth Projects team working with Lorenzo Pacitti and Peter Vaughan.
You will be responsible for challenging and complex legal work which often sets the pace in the market. In this role you will perform primarily advisory and transactional work within the energy, mining and natural resources sectors, including:
• joint venture agreements
• government agreements
• offtake agreements
• acquisition and divestment agreements
• farm-in agreements
• transportation arrangements
The role extends across all major projects including iron ore, energy, LNG, oil & gas, gold and other mining and mineral commodities as well as related decarbonisation projects, such as CCS.
Our team advise on the development of major projects and also the sale and acquisition of projects. The team works extensively with other KWM teams around Australia and there is a strong focus on teamwork and learning and development.
Lorenzo and Peter are both recognised as leading experts in mining and natural resources across a number of key legal directories, including Chambers and Partners, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers.
You will have
• excellent analytical, communication and research skills - to contribute to the delivery of prompt and commercially astute advice
• strong commitment to client service and well-developed relationship management ability - you will play a role in supporting and actively developing our relationships with clients
• team focus - to facilitate effective teamwork by developing strong internal relationships
• enthusiasm to be involved in business development activities - participating in industry related programs and developing strategic relationships and networks
• first rate experience of drafting documents (including sale and purchase contracts, joint venture agreements, operating and management agreements, offtake agreements, deeds, concession agreements, etc).
