Job Summary:
The Analyst role in Finance department is responsible for completeness, accuracy, and integrity of financial results in compliance with JGAAP, US GAAP, and IFRS. The position prepares and maintains series of financial reports and compiles government regulatory returns to OSFI (Office of Superintendent Financial Institutions), CRA (Canada Revenue Agency), and Statistics Canada. It also includes daily account reconciliation, investigation of variances, preparation of journal entries and supporting documentation.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
- responsibilities include:
- Preparation of monthly internal and JGAAP, ad hoc internal reports and analysis
- Preparation of regulatory reports to OSFI & Statistics Canada
- Preparation of tax filing to CRA
- Preparation of journal entries and supporting documentation
- Calculation of monthly adjustments for the balance sheet and income statement
Internal Control - responsibilities include:
- Suspense account and bank reconciliations and investigations
- Record, modify and retire fixed assets. Run depreciation and reconcile between two systems
- Update operational procedure manuals and adopt stronger internal control framework
Projects - responsibilities include:
- Coordinates with New York America head office, IT, Business Solution team to resolve outstanding issues.
- Involved in various implementation projects and ad hoc analysis
- Improve operational procedure manuals and adopt stronger internal control framework
Other - responsibilities include:
- Other accounting and administrative duties as required and assigned
- Providing back-up and support to other team members
Qualifications:
Advance level in Microsoft Excel (Macros)
Required experience in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint Experience in large volume of data and multi-million dollar transactions
Experience in reconciliation, data analysis, problem solving skills
Strong analytical, problem solving skills, exceptional communication skills, detailed-oriented, hands-on individual with strong work ethic
Minimum experience required 3+ years in accounting and financial reporting Understanding of IFRS
Ability to work in a fast-aced environment System implementation experience is an asset
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Business related field • Designation – CPA is considered an asset or plans to pursue CPA in the future.
Able to work effectively in remote setting and in the office as required
