About the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR)

This position is part of the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR). The C4IR helps leaders anticipate exponential technologies and drive responsible sectoral and industry transformation. It brings together leaders from business, government, international organizations, academia and civil society to shape the global agenda on technology governance and technology applications for industries and society.

Why we are Recruiting

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies continue to drive the digital economy, their impact on governments, enterprises, institutions, and individuals is becoming increasingly apparent. AI possesses significant potential to enhance existing strategies and provide innovative solutions to global economic challenges. Nonetheless, the adoption and utilization of AI opportunities have been inconsistent across different regions.

Launched in June 2023, the AI Governance Alliance (AIGA) was set up to provide guidance on the responsible design, development, adoption, deployment, and governance of AI. It aims to address these challenges by identifying the factors that facilitate AI adoption and developing sustainable solutions tailored to the specific challenges faced by different countries and regions, thus bridging gaps in AI technology at regional and country levels.

The Specialist, AI responsible industry adoption position is of critical importance to support the work of the AI Governance Alliance (AIGA), and the promotion of responsible AI adoption and self-governance principles (such as the Hiroshima AI Guiding principles and Code of Conduct) across various industries.  

Relevant focus areas include

  • Promotion of globally recognised responsible AI principles such as the G7 Hiroshima AI Guiding Principles and Code of Conduct

  • Collaborate with AIGA team to identify pathways to operationalise AI ethical principles (such as Hiroshima principles) across various industry sectors

  • Content dissemination across Forum communities and support the delivery of events

Reporting Lines and Interactions

The Specialist, AI Responsible Industry Adoption will report to the Initiatives Lead, Artificial Intelligence and Energy.

The role will also work with key stakeholders across the Forum, including other Centre teams. Operating within an entrepreneurial and dynamic environment, the Specialist will navigate multiple teams and geographic locations to effectively fulfil the responsibilities of the role.

This role entails close collaboration with various stakeholders, including the broader AIGA team located in Geneva, San Francisco, New York, China, and Japan, the Forum’s Digital Trade team and other relevant Forum teams. Additionally, there will be interaction with the C4IR Network and national Forum affiliate centres.

Preferred Requirements and Experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in working with digital technologies and industries and/or technologies policies

  • A master’s degree in business, technology, engineering, Science, Economics, Finance, Political Science or equivalent

  • Analytics/AI/Gen AI hard skills preferred

  • Strong passion on the future of industry and society and demonstrated expertise on the impact of AI the emerging technologies for the global economy

  • Proven capacity to manage strategic projects in collaborative and ambiguous environments, involving high-level leaders from government, business, civil society, academia

  • Demonstrated ability to work across different cultures and sectors

  • Ability to write informative and insightful content, with experience creating digital content, research papers, academic articles, or similar

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify trends and patterns of transformation and demonstrated experience linking diverse concepts into coherent narratives

  • Excellent verbal and written language skills in English
