The Platform Reliability Engineer is a member of our Information Technology team and is responsible for the operations and maintenance of Fullsteam Business Units (BU) production environments. Members of this team maintain Fullsteam’s BUs and operate them from the OSI level six and below. These engineers are in charge of everything related to engineering except for application code development. The PRE team’s primary remit is the Response, Remediation, RCA and postmortems. These responsibilities help ensure that our Business Units are highly available, performant, and secure.
Members of this team are also responsible for operationalizing the engineering department’s tooling and application architecture. This role is responsible for all aspects of engineering, except application code development, and involves supporting infrastructure, deployments, troubleshooting, and operational enhancements. You will collaborate with infrastructure and application engineering teams to drive automation, improve reliability, and enhance overall system performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the infrastructure and application engineering teams with deployments, trouble shooting, service requests and change controls.
- Analyze, develop, and improve upon new and/or existing operational procedures of the FullsteamPay Gateway improving efficiencies and ensuring stability.
- Identify opportunities for improvement of support services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve service availability issues with the FullsteamPay Gateway.
- Daily monitoring of logs and reporting of relevant findings to key stakeholders.
- Administer Github maintaining version control while driving efficiency.
- Develop CI CD to define automation opportunities.
- Write IaC, review Merge Requests and commit to best practices.
- Participate in Change Review meetings to provide feedback to mitigate risk.
- PAM – be accountable for the solutions that enhance secuirty and compliance.
Skills & Competencies:
Technical:
- Expertise in automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
- Deep understanding of networking, cloud platforms (Azure, and AWS), and containerization technologies.
- Proficiency in GitHub administration, CI/CD pipeline management, and system monitoring. Knowledge of payment processing systems and gateway technologies is a plus.
Troubleshooting and Continuous Improvement:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in complex infrastructure environments.
- Scrum / Agile working environment experience
- Ability to analyze system logs, identify trends, and recommend solutions proactively in non-technical terms when appropriate for stakeholder audience.
- Can analyze data for root cause analysis, providing detailed data to avoid recurring issues.
Leadership and Accountability:
- Ability to hold self and others accountable to meet business objectives and deadlines.
- Can maintain focus during incidents to mitigate any risk expediently.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across engineering and operations teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Expert level depth in AWS or Azure with strong capabilities in the other platform as well; SSA-A or higher or AZ-305
- Strong experience with containers and their orchestration; Ie. Docker, ECS, EKS, AKS
- Experience with DevOps tooling including branching strategies, managing repositories & CI/CD pipelines; Ie. Jenkins, SVN, GitHub Action, Bitbucket
- Experience designing and architecting with Infrastructure as Code; Ie. Terraform & Ansible
- At least 6 years of experience managing database technologies; Ie. MSSQL, MySQL, Postgres, Mongo, Metabase,
- At least 8 years’ experience working with modern DevOps tooling
- Application Performance Monitoring and response tool experience
- Deep experience programming/scripting with any of the following languages: BASH, Shell, PowerShell, Python
- Experience delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
- Excited and motivated by difficult and innovative challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security, or related field (4+ years of work experience in software, infrastructure automation or cloud-engineering can substitute for bachelor’s degree)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a zero down time environment with a customer first mindset.
- AWS SSA-P
- Experience with Blue Green deployments
- Knowledge of defense-in-depth, least-privileged & secure-by-design principles
- Deep Understanding and experience maintaining a PCI DSS environment
- Experience working cross functionally with various stakeholders
- Experience as an engineering team lead
- Experience building solutions for monitoring, logging, security, and scalability of applications on Azure or AWS
- At least a year of experience in a similar role for a similarly sized company
- A GitHub account with several years of consistent contributions
- Experience in a Mergers and Acquisitions environment
