Specialist, Retail SMA - Nuveen Global Investment Operations
Nuveen Investments is one of the investment industry's largest providers of Retail Separately Managed Accounts (SMA). The Middle Office Associate is responsible for a broad set of operation functions that support Nuveen and its affiliate's SMA business. Functions include client onboarding, liasing with the FA's and sponsors, portfolio accounting and document management. The candidate will work closely with counterparts in the US to create a seamless processing and service platform.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • • Onboarding new client accounts on timely and accurate manner
  • • Review and process account maintenance items according to SLA’s
  • • Profile and process various requests for SMA’s received from financial advisors and sponsors back offices.
  • • Daily monitoring and reconciliation of separately managed accounts between the portfolio accounting system and client’s external custodians.
  • • Liaising with different internal departments (AA, PA, Settlements) to resolve the complex issues.
  • • Perform quality control checks on critical data elements.
  • • Process client-directed changes to existing portfolios (E.g., Strategy changes, Account number changes, cease requests, terminations, etc.)
  • • Review account exception reports to identify potential risk outliers also communicate with Portfolio managers within the specific deadlines.
  • • Process quality control checks of new accounts and maintenance items in accordance with the departmental guidelines
  • • Monitor and communicate corporate action events.
  • • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve complex issues
  • • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly department reporting
  • • Interface with internal and external business teams to identify root cause of exceptions and assist with corrective and preventive action
  • • Train and coach peer team members
  • • Review and update SOP’s and RCA logs, training trackers etc.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
Work Experience
  • 5+ years • Investment Banking / Asset Management Industry experience in an offshored operations environment. Preferred
  • • 4 + years of experience in Retail Separately Managed Accounts (SMA). Preferred
  • • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word) Preferred
  • • General knowledge of financial markets and products Preferred
  • • Knowledge of Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) Preferred
  • • Experience with APL, SMA Perform, Investcloaud recontool, BPM (K2) is a plus Preferred
  • • Strong technical skills Preferred
