What You’ll Do
Under the direction of the Director of Building Services, this role is responsible for ensuring a clean and safe working environment for the university community. Responsibilities include:
- Inspecting all areas, including classrooms, to oversee physical plant services personnel and ensure compliance with departmental standards.
- Training staff, monitoring performance, and conducting formal written inspection reports to assess department operations, including equipment, chemicals, supplies, and materials used.
- Responding to customer concerns via phone, electronic mail, and in person, providing timely resolutions to service requests.
- Performing administrative duties, such as tracking employee attendance, coordinating special cleaning requests, and assisting with training materials and programming.
- Reviewing and monitoring contract cleaning vendors to ensure compliance with Building Services guidelines, inspecting tasks and frequencies regularly.
- Conducting daily inspections of classrooms and event spaces to ensure proper setup and maintenance for open houses, dedications, commencements, and other special events.
- Inputting work requests for Services and Trades as needed based on inspections and observations.
- Following emergency protocols and taking appropriate action in situations such as floods, fires, and snow/ice conditions to ensure the health and safety of the university community.
- Managing daily inspections and yearly maintenance of classroom spaces, ensuring the upkeep of supplies, furniture, window treatments, AV equipment, projection screens, flooring, ceiling fixtures, and lighting.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of five years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to direct and motivate others.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Proven ability to interact with all levels of administrative personnel.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and pass the university physical exam.
- This position requires a criminal background check.
- Considered Essential Personnel—this is a condition of employment.
- All University staff members must successfully complete a 90-day probationary period.
Schedule:
- 40-hour workweek – Sunday & Wednesday - Saturday, 9:30 PM - 6:00 AM (Tuesday 9:30 PM start)
