About Connect Earth

Founded in 2021, Connect Earth is a London-based environmental data company that democratises easy access to sustainability data. With our carbon tracking API technology, we are on a mission to empower people to make sustainable choices and bridge the gap between intent, knowledge and action.

We work with large financial institutions, such as KBC and Tide, and support them in offering their customers transparent insight into the climate impact of their daily spending and investment decisions. 💳 Our first product is an API solution that can calculate the carbon impact of any purchase. Banks and fintech companies integrate our API to show their customers the carbon footprint of their purchases, directly in their mobile app.

About the Role🌱 We are looking for a talented Full Stack Engineer who is passionate about the environment and would like to learn more about climate change.

🌎 As the business progresses strongly towards a Series A and our client base rapidly increases as we go live to millions of end users, we are looking for a full-stack developer to join our team in order to support the growing developments within our tech team and exciting new client integrations. We are looking for a talented full-stack engineer who is skilled in scalable APIs and intuitive frontends, is a self-starter and would like to have a large impact on climate change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hands-on full-stack development in React and NodeJS building web apps and serverless APIs in AWS Lambda that can scale with our financial customers to millions of users and calls per day.
  • Lead on key new product and API developments that will be used and loved by users to calculate and reduce their carbon emissions through some of the biggest banks globally.
  • Work directly with senior technical leaders and developers on the architecture of our systems, strategies for large integrations and ensuring operational excellence across our services.
  • Support keeping high standards of user experience, data security, protection and organisational processes (in compliance with SOC2) including ensuring we properly meet and monitor client SLAs.
  • Support with integrations into the frontend/backend of small and large financial institutions and relying on AWS cloud services like Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS and Cloudformation using Infrastructure as Code.

Essential Experience

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • 2-5 years of experience with NodeJS and React
  • 2+ years working with AWS cloud services
  • Ability to work autonomously and make architectural decisions
  • Experience building scalable APIs with NodeJS
  • We are looking for a talented full-stack engineer who is passionate about the environment and would like to have a large impact on climate change.

Desired Experience
  • Degree in computer science or a related subject
  • Experience with serverless backends e.g AWS Lambda
  • Experience with Python and AWS Sagemaker
