POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, competent and effective Adult Transition Program teacher. Looking for a highly collaborative employee and effective communicator in using both verbal and written skills to teach functional daily skills to our adult transition students. 

Position Type: Special Education Adult Transition Services - Students 18-25

Location: Oak Valley Center 

Salary: Per HVEA Contract 

Reports To:  ATS Coordinator

Status: School Year 2025/2026 

Start Date: As Soon As Possible 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

? Must hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate 

? Special Education endorsement required (k-12) – Cognitive Impairment preferred

? Must meet standards for Highly Qualified Teachers 

? Certification in non-violent crisis intervention training required or will be provided

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

? To effectively provide instruction to students on an Individualized Education Plan

? To effectively communicate in writing and verbally with students, staff and families ? To respond to students in crisis situations 

? To progress monitor students growth to then report data and provide grades ? To maintain confidentiality of student, staff and family information 

? To be engaged while attending building and department meetings 

? To be a learner of your content and other school related topics to benefit students. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree or higher. 

LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
