Yard Attendant /Material Handler 1st shift bei None

POSITION SUMMARY 

1st Shift

The Yard Attendant/Material Handler is responsible for operating trucks, tractors, equipment throughout the yard of the plant to maintain proper flow of trailers/containers to the unloading area of the shipping bays. Will also assist with Material Handler team.

Compensation: $D.O.E. per hour + Benefits, Target Annual Bonus and Paid Time Off 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Operate cranes, hoists, or other moving or lifting equipment.
• Operate vehicles or material-moving equipment.
• Operate fork lifts.
• Move trailers and tankers around the yard and facility 
• Load and unload shipments, belongings, or materials.
• Position material handling equipment.
• Monitor storage equipment temperature.
• Fill and maintain proper fluids of equipment (diesel, coolant etc.)
• Ensures orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed.
• Arrange unfinished product(s) for final distribution. 
• Contributes to the orderly operation of stock and/or materials storage area.
• Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
• Locates and records materials and supplies by verifying production orders, supply codes, and quantities.
• Operates forklifts and other machinery to move items.
• Keeps inventory and machinery clean.
• Adheres to workplace safety regulations.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid CDL and clean driving record
• Forklift experience required
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and report discrepancies to Supervisor
• Ability to communicate with management and coworkers to meet departmental goals
• Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
• Ability to understand the basic knowledge of handling trailers, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Ability to read and analyze information
• Adept at handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 

• Physical demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to sit for most of the shift; walk; sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
