Join the Mother Baby Unit (MBU) at Latrobe Regional Health (LRH), where you’ll be part of a supportive and specialised team dedicated to strengthening family and infant wellbeing.

We have multiple opportunities available either full-time or part-time, ongoing basis. Negotiable with the successful candidate.

 

Our MBU is a 5-bed, 5–6 cot residential unit that provides care to families across Gippsland. We support mothers, fathers and infants (up to 12 months) experiencing challenges such as post-natal mood disorders, difficulties adjusting to parenthood, infant sleep and settling issues, and attachment concerns.

 

This is a unique opportunity to work in a nurturing, family-focused environment guided by the Solihull model, attachment theory, and mentalisation approaches.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic, family-centred care and education to support parents in developing confidence and skills in nurturing their infants.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of maternal mental health and infant wellbeing, using appropriate tools and interventions.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary care planning, group therapy facilitation, and discharge processes.
  • Deliver safe and high-quality nursing care in accordance with the Mental Health Act 2014, NSQHS Standards, and LRH policies.
  • Support a positive team environment by mentoring junior staff and students, participating in program development, and contributing to service improvements.

 

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or experience in mental health nursing (desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of perinatal mental health and a passion for supporting families.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster including mornings, afternoons and nights.
