Are you passionate about developing talent and creating impactful people experiences? Do you thrive in an environment where you can shape the careers of early professionals while delivering innovative learning and development initiatives? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
We’re seeking an Early Careers & Learning Consultant to join our Perth office on a 12-month contract to cover a period of parental leave. This unique role offers the opportunity to work across two key areas of our People & Development (P&D) team: Early Careers and Learning & Leadership.
About us:
Clayton Utz is one of Australia's leading law firms, and you'll be joining a supportive team dedicated to developing the next generation of lawyers. We're proud to be ranked as a Top Graduate Employer by the AAGE, and we pride ourselves on creating exceptional recruitment and development experiences that equip our clerks, graduates, and lawyers with the skills, guidance, and confidence they need to succeed. We believe in creating a welcoming and inclusive workplace where everyone’s ideas are valued and where collaboration drives innovation.
The role:
As the Early Careers & Learning Consultant for our Perth office, you will split your time between managing the end-to-end recruitment and development of our vacation clerks and graduates in Perth, and delivering local and national learning initiatives that support the growth and capability of our people. This is a diverse and rewarding role that will see you working closely with stakeholders across the firm to deliver high-quality programs and initiatives.
Your role will involve:
Early Careers:
- Managing the end-to-end recruitment process for vacation clerks and graduates, including shortlisting, interviewing, and coordinating rotations.
- Overseeing the smooth running of the vacation clerkship and graduate programs in Perth, ensuring an exceptional experience for participants.
- Providing guidance and support to clerks and graduates throughout their programs, including coordinating Practical Legal Training (PLT) with external providers.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with universities, law societies, and student groups to position Clayton Utz as an employer of choice.
Learning & Leadership:
- Designing and delivering tailored learning programs and materials to meet the needs of employees and align with the firm’s strategic goals.
- Facilitating workshops, training sessions, and group discussions for employees at all levels, from clerks to senior leaders.
- Conducting needs assessments to identify skill gaps, recommending appropriate learning solutions, and evaluating the effectiveness of learning programs.
- Supporting change management initiatives, including training and communication to help employees adapt to new policies, procedures, or technologies.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, empathetic, and driven by a genuine desire to help others succeed. You'll need to be a confident communicator, good at building relationships, and able to navigate complex challenges by coming up with creative solutions.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A background in early careers recruitment, learning and development, or a similar HR role.
- Experience working in a legal or professional services firm, or similar environment.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- A collaborative mindset and a genuine desire to help others succeed.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Why join us?
You'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team that values your contributions and encourages your professional growth. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across two key areas of P&D, gaining exposure to both Early Careers and Learning & Leadership. With a presence in all our major offices, our national P&D team advises the business on all people-related initiatives, including talent management, employee relations, resourcing, recruitment, remuneration, benefits, reporting, learning and organisational development.
If you're excited about the opportunity to make a positive impact on the careers of our graduate lawyers, we can't wait to hear from you!
